Time for a Report

Published by icybc at 7:39 pm under Others Edit This

I have a conference with my son’s teacher today! It is that time for a report card again, and I am not at all enthusiast about the meeting. Too many times in the past, the teachers told me the nicest things about my son, and the next day or so, they yelled at him.

My son is not an angel, I know that. He is a kid, and he will get in trouble sometimes. That is acceptable! However, the thing that bugs me is the teacher’s personalities. In front of the parents, they acted so nice and professional, but as soon as the parents turn their backs to walk out the door, you can hear them screaming at the children.

I volunteer in the school, so I know this behavior very well. Out of 20 to 30 adults in the building, there maybe one or two teachers that maintain their images as presented to the parents: calm, caring, and loving! It always amazes me to watch the transformation.

I have a great deal of respect for teachers, and understand how tired they are in dealing with so many kids every day. However, ask yourself this: if you are doing a job in any field, under paid, and under tremendous pressure, are you allowed to scream madly at anyone?

I am no longer looking forward to meet the teachers since my perception about them have altered with times!

I’m sorry that you had to find out about the way the teachers are. I don’t think the teachers should react that way when the parents aren’t around. I remember when one of my teachers did that to me. When my mother came to see her, butter could melt in her mouth. The second she left, the teacher got nasty with me. Naturally I told my mother what she did and my mother went off on her. I hope you have a good meeting with the teacher. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I had one of those teachers while in Middle School. She was so mean to the kids but kissed butt when the parents were around. Lucky for us she only lasted one year. Good luck.
